Local Attractions

Whilst visitors are generally attracted to Blythedale because of its’ exceptional beach there is so much else to do in the vicinity. 

For example, the first-class golf courses such as Princes Grant to the north and Simbithi to the south are amongst many others options.  Book a thrilling Microlight flight along the coast or an exciting Guided “Fat Bike” tour into the forest and back along the beach!

The whole family will enjoy the Flag Farm near Salt Rock as well as Crocodile Creek and Monkeyland.

Contact Fever-Tree Tours if you want a trip to a nearby place of interest or Zululand game reserve.  Also available for airport transfers, shopping trips or a night out to one of the numerous and varied restaurants in Ballito, Salt Rock – or Tinley Manor, so famous for its curry restaurant.

“Grumpy’s Beach Bar” (Blythedale Coastal Resort)

Blythedale is where you can get away from the hustle and bustle yet still enjoy excellent and varied shopping venues and other facilities within easy reach.

Ballito is the largest in the area (20 minutes drive) with two very large shopping malls also full of restaurants. A little closer is Salt Rock with the smaller Tiffany’s shopping mall.  Directly inland on the other side of the N2 highway, the recently constructed KwaDukuza Mall boasts two large modern supermarkets and general shops (10 minutes from the beach).

At the top of Blythedale village residential area, there is a beach store for essentials.  Within walking distance of MiniVillas is Palm Dune Lodge where you can book an a la carte meal and Gecko and Lime restaurant/takeaway in Dolphin Crescent at the top of the village.

Situated in the adjacent Blythedale Coastal Resort is the very popular Grumpy’s Beach Bar where families can enjoy a wonderful meal under the trees right next to the beach.  Open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 – 4pm.  Contact 082 355 0393 for more info.
